Perfectly groomed slopes – the figurehead of every ski resort!

The Kronplatz, ski area number 1 in South Tyrol, has already been awarded with countless prizes for its perfectly groomed slopes. For 119 km of slopes only professionals are good enough.

These include professional staff, state-of-the-art machinery and the necessary know-how.

The Snowmaker Week offers snow and technology enthusiasts the perfect opportunity to take a look behind the scenes and get interesting information on snow grooming and snow production.

On three days, specific lectures were held in the following subjects: snowmaking, pumping stations and slope preparation. Furthermore, information was provided on innovations in the various subjects and active environmental protection which plays a major role.

Active environmental protection has long been a key concern at Kronplatz: In recent years, large-scale investments in the entire snow-making equipment meant developing them continuously, thereby progressively reducing their energy consumption.

Facts about facts

There has been significant progress in snow grooming, too. The new Pistenbully 600 E + was purchased in the winter season 2013/2014 and has achieved overwhelming success with its innovative technology and the strong performance. That’s why we are proud to be the first ski resort in Italy to present this new snow groomer in our fleet. This new snow cat convinces with 20% savings in diesel consumption and thus 20% less CO₂ emissions and, as a result, considerable savings in operating costs. It is also pleasing that this snow cat emits 99% less soot particles in air than conventional snow groomers.
